- The startup production cost of the A1200 is unfortunate but neccessary,
- let's hope sales in the UK will pick up when the price drops. If the
- A1200 Surfer is still too high priced then maybe people would be willing
- to buy the package seperately when it comes out.
-
- I too would put more enphasis on the A1300 in the US then the A1200 but
- the A1200 is the only model so far that has a Surfer Package connected
- with it.

- Like I said before, I thought OS development would be inside AT and only
- hardware development would be done outside?

- It looks like an enhanced C64c :) A toy? I don't think so, I think it
- looks much better then most of the "boxed" PCs out there which are huge!
-

-
- Better for the highend as someti5mes case design adds too much to the
- lowend. Though a nice desgined mid-ranged Amiga would compensate.

-
- Well if they have an external IDE connector, this must mean that they plan
- on having all the hard drives external or have an internal one with the
- external connector for adding a second drive/CD-ROM etc. If they plan on
- having all hard drives external, then they could place a CD-ROM drive
- inside possibly or perhaps a graphics card expansion slot, though I doubt
- this. On the other hand, a lot of games companies are putting out games
- that take advantage of graphics cards, when shortly before they didn't
- want to as they said there wasn't enough of a market for it.

- True.

-

- Well anyone with an Amiga is an "Amigan" but there seems to be a few here
- that look down on the Amiga that they own or Amigas compared to PCs.
- Granted the comparison is valid but if you chose Amiga, you should stick
- with it and not worry about what the other guys have as they have a
- totally different structure. This is sort of hard to explain. We should
- back AT positively, not lashing out at them. They have reasons for what
- they are doing and sometimes we can help their path but they know their
- competition and what the Amiga needs and what they can do with it in the
- short term to make it better based on the finances they have. If you
- want a comparison, if you eat at McDonalds, never mind what they are
- doing at Burger King except wait for McDonalds to provide a similar deal
- instead of crossing the road to quickly get the latest 2 burgers, 2 fries
- for $2.99 :)

- True, but the highend Power Amiga will come first.

- Not cancel the messages, just recommend that you put them in a more
- constructive form.

-
- Its amazing how the Amiga got labelled a games machine world wide when it had
- the most advanced OS and some of the most power programs of its time. They
- cannot label it a games machine anymore as the PCs have all the games and
- the OS cannot be frowned upon anymore as multitasking and GUIs are common
- ground now, they just need the MHz and upgraded graphics and sound and
- advertising now to catch people's eyes again.

-
- Well the A1200 is not a games machine and with the Magic Pack it should be
- made obvious about that. I would rather the A1200 computer over a strictly
- games machine anyday.. can you surf the net/web with your playstation?

- When they have the A1300 established, I am sure the A1200's price will drop.

-
- No, but they still have over 1 year before the PPC Amiga gets released,
- they have to worry about the short term right now.
